Day three: boys state basketball tournament

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) - Thursday we had the Class AAA semifinal games, and all the Class AA quarterfinals.

Two of our area teams went head-to-head in the early game, No. 6 Ravenswood facing No. 3 Chapmanville. It went into overtime, the Red Devils with the 54-53 upset win. Those highlights above!

Nitro then took on Shady Spring in the next game, the Tigers winning it 67-44 to roll on to the championship game. Wildcats' starting point guard Derek Lowe fell with an injury six minutes into the game, and the team says that really hurt them. Highlights and postgame above!

We had another AA quarterfinal after that, Charleston Catholic facing Trinity. The Irish won it 52-39, those highlights above!

Bluefield then beat Braxton County by more than double, the final 85-40.

Fairmont Senior is rolling on to the Class AAA championship game, and will face Shady Spring, after beating East Fairmont 57-31.

The final game of the night was Wheeling Central vs. Williamstown, Central Catholic winning it 45-38.

All the Class A, 2A, and 4A semifinal games will be played Friday.

No. 3 Huntington vs. No. 2 Morgantown at 9:30am, No. 1 Tucker County vs. No. 4 Webster County at 11:15am, No. 1 Spring Mills vs. No. 5 South Charleston at 1pm, No. 1 Bluefield vs. No. 4 Wheeling Central Catholic at 5:30pm, No. 3 East Hardy vs. No. 2 Tug Valley at 7:15pm, and No. 6 Ravenswood vs. No. 1 Charleston Catholic at 9pm.
